Basketball BC Manager of High-Performance Shaun McGuinness, is pleased to announce the Head Coaches for the 2024 U15 and U17 Girls Team BC.
"I am very pleased to announce that our U15 and U17 Girls Team BC will be led by two provincially and nationally recognized coaches. Both are dynamic coaches with a proven record of coaching excellence at the provincial, college, and university level.
"Todd Warnick will head the U15 coaching staff. Todd is currently the Head Coach of Thompson Rivers University women’s basketball program. Prior to taking the head coaching position at TRU, Todd was the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at NAIT, Edmonton AB from 2010-2022 and the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Concordia University of Alberta from 2006-2009. Todd is also the former Head Coach of the Girls Centre for Performance for Basketball Alberta.
"Assisting Todd will be Jessica Funk and Jenn Le. Both coaches are currently part of Basketball BC Girls Academy Staff. Jessica is also an Assistant Coach at U.B.C. and a former U17 Team BC coach. This will be Jenn’s third year returning to the role of Assistant Coach of the U15 Team BC. Both coaches are passionate, energetic, and committed to excellence with a focus on player and team development.
"Randy Nohr is returning to coach within our Provincial girls’ program as U17 Head Coach after leading our 2023 U15 Girls Team BC to a Gold medal at the 2023 National Championships. Randy has also previously coached our U15 Boys Team BC. Randy is a nationally recognized coach and player. Having excelled as a player at Langara College and St F.X., winning National Championships at both. As a university coach he helped guide U.BC. to several top 8 finishes at the CIS National Championships. Randy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. He is well known for his passion for the game and his ability to teach the game. He is excellent in preparing his players to reach their potential both individually and as a team. Assisting Randy will be Madeline Antwi and Ashyana Kumar. Both coaches have been involved in our High-Performance program for several years and currently coach at the Basketball BC Girls Academy. Coach Antwi is also the Lead Assistant Coach at Trinity Western University.” – Shaun McGuinness
Team BC is designed to attract the top female basketball players in the province at the U15 and U17 age categories, with a goal of being medal contenders at the annual Canada Basketball National Championships. BC’s coaching staff are selected from our Provincial High Performance Coaching pool and include some of the top university and college coaches in British Columbia. Team BC coaches are NCCP trained and certified.
This program is part of our High Performance Programming and is directly linked to Canada Basketball’s National team athlete pathway. Athletes that participate on Team BC will have access to Canada Basketball identification and assessment, occurring throughout their training and at the National Championships. The style of play that is coached and emphasized is generated in alignment with current key concepts of play and point of emphasis from Basketball Canada and is designed through consultation with Basketball BC High Performance staff to best serve the needs of our elite players.
The program is designed to best suit the developmental needs of our players and is compatible with club basketball participation.
Canada Basketball will be assessing and identifying players at the U15 National Championship for the 2025 National Cadette Team and at the U17 National Championships for the 2025 U17 and 2025 U18 Junior National teams.

Randy Nohr has been coaching basketball in BC since retiring from his playing years at Langara College -where he won two CCAA national championships followed by winning two CIS university national titles with St. Francis Xavier. Nohr, who was named MVP of the Final 8 championship tournament and still holds numerous school, conference, league, and championship records, including the CIS single-season assists mark (168, 8.4 per game).
Nohr was also a member of Canada’s national team for six seasons, representing his country at several major international competitions, including the 2005 FIBA Americas, 2003 Pan American Games, 2001 Goodwill Games and the 2001 World University Games.
Since retiring from active playing Randy has brought his passion for the game to coaching.
Randy was hired on as UBC’s first ever full-time assistant coach in April 2005.
For the last 10 years Randy has coached in the community with various clubs and within Basketball BC’s High-Performance program. His experiences include coaching at CP and HPT programs and currently coaching at Basketball BC Academy. He is a former U15 Boys Team BC head coach and in 2022 coached the Fraser Valley Under 14 Girls Basketball BC Zone team resulting in gold at the BC Summer games. Last year Coach Nohr led our U15 Girls Team BC to a National Title at the 2023 U15 National Championships in Calgary.

Getting to compete at Nationals as a Player and a Coach is always a great honor. I am truly looking forward to this year's Nationals Championship tournament in Newfoundland. Todd Warnick has been an active head coach in collegiate and university sport in Western Canada for the better part of the past two decades. Coach Warnick has had a lengthy coaching career in both BC and Alberta. His first head coaching position was at Vancouver Island University (VIU) with Men’s Basketball program from 2001-2006. In that time, he guided the Mariners to a CCAA National bronze medal and PacWest Silver medal 2004-05.
In 2006 Coach Warnick returned to Alberta to take Head Coach position with the Concordia University of Edmonton Women’s Basketball program. In his 4 seasons on the bench, he was named ACAC Coach of the year in 2007 and lead the Concordia Thunder to an Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference championship in 2007. In 2009 Coach Warnick moved to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Women’s Basketball program. In the following 12 years Coach Warnick’s NAIT Ooks would go on to record the programs first Conference Championship in 2015-16 and go on to host the first Women’s Basketball Championship in the schools 45-year history. In 2022 Coach Warnick would enter the history books again helping guide NAIT and the Ooks to first ever Women’s Basketball National Championship title.
Following two decades of success Coach Warnick and his family were excited to move back to British Columbia where he was hired as Head Coach of the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack of the Canada West Conference in USport in the spring of 2022.

Supercamp is the tryout and selection camp for Team BC. This camp features instruction, competition, and player evaluation by the coaches and the Team BC selection committee in attendance at the camp. In addition, participants have an opportunity to compete alongside the top players from around the provinces.

The Girls Regional Identification (ID) Camps are for those athletes interested in attending the Girls U15 SUPERCAMP. The U15 Supercamp is the tryout and selection camp for the U15 Team BC.
The Girls U15 ID Camps will be held in several locations across BC and are coordinated by local coaches recruited by Basketball BC. The camps offer players an opportunity to showcase their skills during a 2-hour ID Camp. During the camps, coaches will evaluate players and select athletes who can register to participate in the U15 Supercamp.
NOTE: To be considered for participation in the Girls U15 Supercamp, athletes MUST be registered for a U15 Regional ID Camp. Basketball BC may invite some identified athletes directly to the U15 Supercamp.

For Athletes wishing to attend U15 Supercamp who do not reside within these regions (i.e. Kootenays, North Coast, North etc.) please contact Shaun McGuinness regarding registration to Supercamp.
Athletes selected to Team BC will be notified by via email by Tuesday after the Sunday selection camp. Email notifications will be sent to the athletes who were not selected to Team BC.
For athletes selected to the Team BC, the registration deadline will be included in the selection notification email. All athletes participating on Team BC must be registered to attend the program.
Athletes selected to the U15 Supercamp will be notified after the completion of the U15 ID Regional camps. Email notification will not be sent to athletes who were not selected to the U15 Supercamp.
The selection notification email will be sent through the Basketball BC registration system using email addresses of athletes and their parents/guardians provided for the Tryout registration. Basketball BC is not responsible for any contact information errors made during registration.
Depending on your email filter, the notification email may go to a “junk” folder - make sure your junk folder is not set to auto-delete. The athlete and parent/guardian are responsible for checking for the email notification.
Fee will not be adjusted for partial participation

Basketball BC programs require a Basketball BC Athlete Membership. The membership does not need to be purchased separately. The system will add the membership fee to the program registration if the athlete does not already have the required membership.

In accordance with Basketball BC policy, all participants must be preregistered (for the correct tryout/clinic/program) to attend each specific Basketball BC tryout/clinic/program.
PLEASE SELECT THE CORRECT REGISTRATION
A registration list for each specific tryout/clinic/program will be used to confirm the participants. Only those individuals on each specific registration list will be allowed to participate. Basketball BC is not responsible for any user errors which may result in an individual being excluded from participating in the tryout/clinic/program if the individual is not on the registration list.
REGISTRATIONS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE
If the individual is registered for the wrong tryout/clinic/program, the individual will need to be registered for the correct tryout/clinic/program before the stated registration deadline. Please send a refund request for the original registration to Basketball BC. An administration fee will be charged in accordance with our Refund Policy.
EMAIL CONFIRMATION
Upon successful completion of the registration (and payment), an email confirmation will be sent to the Account Holder (Parent if account is for a child). The email may be sent to a "junk" folder depending on the email filter - please check that the junk folder is not set to "auto delete". If you do not receive or cannot find the email in the junk folder, contact Basketball BC to confirm that the individual is registered for the tryout/clinic/program.
