Basketball BC is excited to announce the return of the Youth Coaching Summit, a free professional development event designed specifically for coaches working with athletes in the U10-U14 age groups.

Join us on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Langley Events Centre for a full day of learning, collaboration, and practical skill development with some of British Columbia's most respected coaches and basketball leaders. Whether you're new to coaching or a seasoned mentor, the Summit will provide valuable insights into athlete development, practice design, teaching fundamentals, and creating positive basketball experiences for young players.

Attendance is free, however pre-registration is required.  Coaches can register at GamePlanBasketball.ca.

Marshall Cho

Meadow Park Basketball

Marshall Cho is a highly respected coach, educator, and community builder whose basketball journey has spanned North America, Africa, and Asia. He has coached at the youth, high school, collegiate, and international levels, including roles with the University of Portland, Lake Oswego High School, Nike Hoop Summit, USA Basketball, and Basketball Without Borders Africa. Known for his passion for player development and community engagement, Cho brings a unique global perspective to coaching and leadership.

Phil Jalalpoor

University of British Columbia

Phil Jalalpoor is the Head Coach of the UBC Men's Basketball program. A former Canada West All-Star and UBC standout, Jalalpoor enjoyed a successful professional playing career in Europe before representing Iran at the 2020 Olympic Games. Following his retirement from professional
basketball, he transitioned into coaching and guided the Thunderbirds to appearances in both the Canada West Final and the U SPORTS Final 8 in his first season as head coach.

Shae Dheensaw

Simon Fraser University

Shae Dheensaw was named Head Coach of Simon Fraser University's women's basketball program in 2026 after building a reputation as one of Canada's rising coaching leaders. Her experience includes head coaching roles at Brock University, coaching positions with Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Victoria, and leadership roles with Canada's national 3x3 basketball programs. A former NCAA Division I athlete, Dheensaw has consistently developed championship-calibre teams and athletes throughout her coaching career.

Jamie Oei

University of British Columbia

Jamie Oei serves as an Assistant Coach with the UBC men's basketball program and recently served as Head Coach of the Bronze-Medal winning 2026 U17 Boys Team BC Provincial Team. With coaching experience spanning the collegiate, high school, and club environments, Oei has helped lead successful programs at Douglas College, Argyle Secondary School, and Vancity Basketball Academy. His passion for athlete development has made him a respected figure within BC basketball.

Kaden Hruska

Simon Fraser University

Kaden Hruska is an Assistant Coach with the Simon Fraser University men's basketball program and brings extensive experience across youth, provincial, collegiate, and professional basketball. Prior to joining SFU, he worked with the University of Alberta Golden Bears and the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Hruska has also played a significant role in Alberta Basketball's provincial team programs and coach development initiatives, earning recognition for his expertise in athlete development and transformational coaching.

Stephanie von Riedemann

Capilano University

Stephanie von Riedemann is the Head Coach of Capilano University's women's basketball program. A former PACWEST student-athlete and longtime coach, she brings extensive experience in player development, performance analysis, and program leadership. Prior to becoming head coach, she served as an assistant coach at Capilano and helped grow the Vancity Girls Basketball Academy into one of the province's leading development programs. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes respect, player growth, strong team culture, and competitive excellence.

Taylor Williams

Collingwood School

Taylor Williams is one of British Columbia's most accomplished youth and high school coaches, with extensive experience developing athletes and coaches throughout the province. Coaching in the Collingwood School program and a leader within Basketball BC's high-performance pathway, Williams is widely respected for his ability to build positive learning environments and develop athletes at every stage of their basketball journey.

Cody Low

Peak Performance Project

Cody Low is the founder of Peak Performance Project and a recognized leader in basketball skill development and performance training. Working with athletes ranging from grassroots players to elite performers, Low specializes in individual skill development, movement training, and helping players maximize their long-term athletic potential through evidence-based coaching methods.
