Membership Season

Basketball BC’s membership season is September 1 to August 31.
  • Adult League registrations are accepted on an annual basis, with one registration per membership season
  • Adult Leagues can register at any time during the registration period, but League fees will not be adjusted for a partial membership season

 

Safe Sport Requirements

Basketball BC is committed to creating a sport environment that is free from all forms of maltreatment.  The same level of commitment is expected from its Registered Adult Leagues.

All Registered Adult Leagues are required to have Safe Sport policies.  The Registered Adult League can implement its own policies or adopt Basketball BC's policies.   

 

Failure to implement and follow Safe Sport policies may affect the Registered Adult League's insurance coverage.

 

Adult League Fees

FOR 2026-27 MEMBERSHIP SEASON - $10 + GST/participant 
Fees are waived for coaches and/or volunteers

PAYMENT: Credit or Debit Card at the time of registration 

 

Failure to pay League fees will affect the Adult League's status as a member in good standing and the sanctioning of the Registered Adult League's basketball activities for insurance purposes

 

League Participant Registration

All adult league participants must be registered with Basketball BC

 

As a non-profit Society, Basketball BC is required to have proper data and information related to its participants.

The registration of Adult League participants (athlete, coaches, and volunteers) is done by providing a PARTICIPANT DATA FILE to Basketball BC.

  • Download the 2026-27 ADULT LEAGUE PARTICIPANT DATA FILE template.

    • File can be uploaded when required in the Adulte League Registration OR emailed (in Excel format) to Basketball BC Clubs.  (Please include the name of the Adult League in the subject line).

  • If the DATA FILE is not uploaded with the registration, the League has 30 days from the date of registration to submit the DATA FILE.  An extended deadline request can be made to Basketball BC Clubs.

  • Subsequent DATA FILES or athlete ESTIMATES are required if participants are added during the membership season.  

 

Adult League Status

Once the registration process is completed, Basketball BC will email the Adult League to confirm its status - CONFIRMED or CONDITIONAL.

CONDITIONAL
DATA FILE (or updated DATA FILE) has not been submitted - payment of fees may be incomplete
  • Insurance coverage is provided

  • Certificate of Insurance (COI) will be issued if requested in the registration. 

CONFIRMED
DATA FILE (or updated DATA FILE) has been submitted and all fees paid for the actual number of athletes

  • Adult League will be added to the Registered Adult League List on the Basketball BC website

 

New adult leagues must have CONFIRMED status before COI is issued

Conditional status may affect the Adult League's insurance coverage as only participants listed on the data file will be eligible for insurance coverage

Adult League status can be downgraded to CONDITIONAL if additional participant fees are not paid during the membership season

 

Insurance Coverage

Basketball BC, under its insurance policy, provides insurance coverage for Basketball BC Registered Adult Leagues and its registered participants.  
  • Athletes and Coaches (when participating with the Registered Adult League) - liability and participant accident coverage 
  • Directors, Officers, and Volunteers (if applicable) - liability coverage

The ADULT LEAGUE PARTICIPANT DATA FILE identifies the individuals who are covered by Basketball BC‘s insurance policy.
  • ALL Adult League participants must be registered with Basketball BC for the Adult League's insurance coverage to be in affect
  • The Adult League is solely responsible for the completeness of the participant data submitted
  • Basketball BC is not responsible if a claim is denied due to incomplete information
Failure to provide the participant data file and to pay the required participant fees may affect the Registered Adult League's status and any participant insurance claims.  

 

Certificate of Insurance (COI)

Adult Leagues may be required to provide proof of insurance to rent a facility. 

A Certificate of Insurance (COI) on Basketball BC's policy will be issued upon request through the online Adult League Registration or by emailing Basketball BC Clubs.  Please include "COI Request" and name of the Name of the Adult League in the subject line.

Basketball BC will forward the COI directly to the facility contact(s) when possible.  A copy of the COI will be forwarded to the League upon request.  

A COI will not be issued until the online registration process is completed and Adult League ees have been paid.

New Adult Leagues must have CONFIRMED status before COI is issued.

Please allow at least a minimum of one week (5 business days) lead time for your COI to be requested and issued

 

Adult league Registration 

We have implemented a new Adult League registration process for the 2026-27 membership season.

PRE-REGISTRATION

DATA FILE to complete for upload in the Adult League Registration

If the Adult League can provide the PARTICIPANT DATA FILE at the time of registration:

Adult League Fees

The League will be required to provide the total athlete number in the registration. 

The actual per DATA FILE or an athlete ESTIMATE will determine the Adult League fees for the registration.
  • Leagues with up to 200 athletes can choose and pay for 10 to 200 athletes. 
  • Leagues with over 200 athletes can choose and pay for multiples of 100, from 200 to 1200 athletes. 
DATA FILES will be used to compare the actual athlete number to the athlete estimate: 
  • Fees will be added to the League's registration if the athlete number is higher than estimate OR
  • Fees will be refunded if the athlete number is lower than estimate.
Subsequent DATA FILES or athlete ESTIMATES must be submitted if participants are added during the membership season
  • Fees will be added for subsequent participants

The League will be notified if additional fees are added through the registration system.  

To ensure adequate insurance coverage, NO NOT underestimate the League's athlete number

Failure to submit a complete PARTICIPANT DATA FILE will affect the League's status and insurance coverage
Payment

Payment method is credit or debit card.

Payment is required at the time of registration and will be determined by the athlete number selected in the registration.

Subsequent payments for additional fees will be required to be paid through the registration system within 30 days of notification.

Failure to pay Adult League fees will affect the Registered Adult League's status as a member in good standing and the sanctioning of the League's basketball activities for insurance purposes

STEP 2

CONFIRMATION 

Upon submission of the Adult League registration, the League's Authorized Representative will receive a system generated email confirmation.

Once the registration process is completed, Basketball BC Clubs will notify the League's Authorized Representative of its status - CONFRIMED or CONDITIONAL 

CONDITIONAL - Adult League has not submitted the DATA FILE (or updated DATA FILE) so payment of fees may be incomplete. 

CONFIRMED - Adult League has submitted the DATA FILE (or updated DATA FILE) and all fees are paid for the actual number of athletes

New Adult Leagues must have CONFIRMED status before COI is issued

Adult League status can be downgraded to CONDITIONAL if additional League fees are not paid during the membership season
