February 15th, 2017BC Athletes Invited to 2nd Canada Basketball Assessment Camp
Shaun McGuinness, Basketball BC Director of High Performance, proudly announced Friday the BC athletes that have been invited back to the second National Assessment Camp for the Canadian National Cadette (2001) and Junior Teams (1999). The Women’s National High Performance program assesses players for the National teams in four major ways:
- Two annual assessment (Edmonton (Dec 2016)) and Toronto Spring (March 24-30, 2017)
- Observation and evaluation at Canada Basketball Nationals and Canada
- Summer Games in Winnipeg in 2017
- 12 month communication with the PSO regarding participation in provincial programming
- 12 month monitoring of the athlete’s Yearly Training Program through Basketball BC’s POD and Provincial Team training

The assessment camp will be help in Toronto March 24-30. This will continue the process for selecting the final team rosters to compete this summer for Canada at various FIBA competitions.
Lawrie Johns, BBC Executive Director congratulated the girls as they continue their journey to represent their province and country: “We are proud of our alignment with Canada Basketball’s Women’s program and look forward to a number of our athletes being further evaluated at Nationals and the Canada Summer Games as they represent our province.
