September 24th, 2025Coaching Clinic with Mike Mackay (Location Change)

Shaun McGuinness Manager of Girls High Performance and Coach Education is pleased to announce that Mike MacKay, Technical Director for Canada Basketball will be returning to our Academy program this fall. Mike will be leading sessions for both the Girls Junior Academy and Senior Academy on Oct 4 and 5.

As part of his visit Mike will be delivering a coaching clinic on Fri Oct 3 at Johnston Heights Secondary from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. This is a great opportunity to learn from a nationally and internationally recognized teacher of the game.

During his session Mike will focus on improved teaching and communication skills, with a fresh perspective on youth skill development. Mike will show not only what to teach, but how and when to introduce concepts and skills. Coaches who have attended Mike’s sessions report gaining invaluable knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies, including new terminology, and how to create more effective and positive learning environments for their players. The experience is often described as transformative and insightful, with a focus on building well-rounded skilled athletes.
