Basketball BC joins the BC sport community in expressing our profound sorrow following the tragic loss of life in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, students, educators, and community members who have been impacted by this devastating tragedy. Our thoughts are with the entire Tumbler Ridge community as they grieve and begin the difficult process of healing.

The BC sport system is built on connection, belonging, and the belief that sport should be a safe and supportive space for all. In moments like this, we are reminded of the responsibility we share to look after one another, on and off the court, and to lead with compassion, empathy, and care.

Basketball BC stands alongside our provincial sport partners, local clubs, schools, and community organizations in supporting those affected. We encourage members of our basketball community to be mindful of the impact such events can have, to check in on one another, and to access available mental health and community supports when needed.

We stand in solidarity with Tumbler Ridge and with communities across British Columbia who are holding space for grief, healing, and hope.
