2015 U19 MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM ANNOUNCED

TORONTO, ON - Canada Basketball's Men's High Performance is pleased to announce the 12 athletes, coaches and staff who will represent Canada at the U19 FIBA World Championships in Heraklion, Greece.

“It is an honour to take this group of young men and an incredible staff to Greece for the World Championship. The commitment and character of this group has been impressive,” said Roy Rana, Head Coach of the 2015 U19 Men's National Team. “We look forward to representing our country with great passion and developing the next wave of Canadian talent that will represent our men's team in the future.

Rana (Ryerson University) is coaching the U18/19 Men's National Team for the fourth consecutive season. He is joined by assistant coaches Jamie McNeilly (Virginia Tech), Kirby Schepp (University of Manitoba) and Scott Morrison (Maine Red Claws). Canadian Basketball Hall of Famer, Steve Konchalski (St. Francis Xavier University) is a mentor coach for the group.

Five athletes return from the 2014 squad who finished 2nd at the FIBA Americas in Colorado Springs – the best ever finish for a Men’s Age-Group team: Dillon Brooks (University of Oregon), Christopher Egi (Harvard University), Corey Johnson (Northern Kings), Nevell Provo (Pine Ridge High School); and Drew Urquhart (University of Vermont).

Canada is currently ranked 3rd worldwide in the FIBA Men’s Age-Group rankings.

The team will head to Europe to train, as well as compete in exhibition games in Spain ahead of the World Championships.
