Applications Now Being Accepted for Boys Programs Beginning in Fall 2027

LANGLEY, BC – Basketball BC is pleased to announce that applications are now open for schools and organizations interested in becoming founding members of the new BC Scholastic Basketball League (BCSBL), set to launch in Fall 2027. The League will begin with boys' programs during the 2027/28 season, with plans to expand and introduce girls' programs in its second or third year of operation.

The BCSBL is being developed to provide a structured, high-quality scholastic age basketball environment that supports athlete development, meaningful competition, and educational excellence. The league will bring together like-minded education institutions and organizations committed to creating positive experiences for student-athletes while strengthening the basketball pathway in British Columbia.

"The BCSBL represents an exciting opportunity to build a new model for high performance school age basketball in our province," said Matthew McKay, Executive Director of Basketball BC. "We are looking for partners who share our vision of delivering high-quality basketball experiences while supporting the academic and personal development of student-athletes. This first application phase will help us identify and work with founding member programs that will shape the future of the league."

Applications are currently being accepted for boys' programs interested in participating in the inaugural 2027/28 season. Basketball BC is seeking schools and organizations that demonstrate a commitment to athlete development, organizational excellence, and long-term growth within the scholastic basketball landscape.

The League's phased approach will allow for a strong and sustainable launch, while laying the foundation for the addition of girls' divisions as early as the 2028/29 season.

Organizations interested in learning more about the BCSBL application process are encouraged to contact Basketball BC.
