October 26th, 2022Basketball BC Board Member becomes President of the BC Seniors Games Society

Basketball BC is proud to announce that John Buis, Director Basketball BC was elected as the President, Seniors Games Society (BCSGS).

John is new to the BCSGS. He has an extensive background in provincial sports organizations including 25 years with Basketball BC and over 40 years with the BC High School Boys’ Basketball Championships. He recently retired after a successful, 45 years of service to Canadians as a member of Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

John stated, “I look forward to leading the Plus55 BC Games Society for the next two years as we emerge from the pandemic and return to improving the health, lifestyle and image of BC’s 55+ population.”

The 55+ BC Games is an annual, multi-sport competition celebrating active and healthy adults 55 years of age and older. They are an important part of the Sport 4 Life Long Term Athlete Development, with many of the Provincial Sport Organizations providing support. Each year the Games attract approximately 3,600 participants and require approximately 1,200 volunteers to stage and deliver the Games in the Host Community.
