VANCOUVER BANDITS & BASKETBALL BC TO HOST VIRTUAL SEMINAR FOR PROVINCIAL COACHES AND OFFICIALS

The Vancouver Bandits announced Wednesday that the club has partnered with Basketball BC to host a virtual seminar for coaches and officials from across the province on Sunday, Dec. 3.

All basketball coaches, basketball officials and athletic directors in British Columbia are invited to attend this complimentary virtual educational seminar.

The virtual seminar includes a Basketball BC’s Officials Committee (BBCOC) presentation led by BBCOC Head Educator Jamie Clegg that will focus on four keys of emphasis for officials during the 2023-24 school season, as well as a Q&A panelist session with the theme: Coaches and Officials Interactions.

The four panelists include Vancouver Bandits head coach Kyle Julius, Trinity Western University Spartans’ women’s basketball head coach Cheryl Jean-Paul and two BC high school coaches that will be announced on Monday, Nov. 27.

Julius and Jean-Paul are internationally experienced head coaches who bring an extensive background of working with the highest levels of International Basketball Federation (FIBA) officials.

Interested officials and coaches are invited to register for the free event by visiting www.thebandits.ca/basketball-resources. The virtual seminar runs for 90 minutes on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 7 p.m. PT to 8:30 p.m. PT. All participants must register online to receive the virtual webinar Zoom link.

The virtual seminar is the latest installment in Basketball BC and Vancouver Bandits’ commitment to enhancing basketball communities across the province. The idea of a joint coaches and officials seminar was first introduced by Eric Kuntz, a member of the board of directors for the Fraser Valley Basketball Officials Association (FVBOA), after leading a regional virtual seminar in October.

The goal of the seminar is to foster a stronger connection between basketball coaches and officials across British Columbia.

Coaches and officials have an opportunity to request their question(s) to be part of the Q&A and are invited to propose their questions on the registration portal. If individuals are unable to attend, they will receive the video recording following the event. Registration is required to receive the recording.
