February 26th, 2021Basketball BC and BCBOA Sign MOU to Merge

Langley, BC – Basketball BC and the BC Basketball Officials Association (BCBOA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to merge the BCBOA into Basketball BC effective April 30, 2021.

“We are excited to announce the merging of the BCBOA under Basketball BC using the model set out by the Canada Basketball Officials Commission.” said Stu Graham, President of Basketball BC.

A new committee, the Basketball BC Officials Committee, will be formed by March 31, 2021 as a standing committee of the Basketball BC Board of Directors. The Officials Committee will assist the Basketball BC Board of Directors in providing oversight for the governance of basketball officiating in BC, including the development and recruitment of officials under the Canada Basketball Officials Commission (CBOC) model.

“As the first province to merge the provincial officials group into our Provincial Sport Organization under the CBOC model, we look forward to continuing the development of officials in BC with a new structure and approach” said John McFarland, President of the BCBOA and National Educator on the CBOC Executive Council.
