Provincial Team Program

Proof of vaccination is a requirement for participation on any of our provincial teams (as it is required for National Championships and Canada Summer Games).

If selected to a provincial team, the athlete would need to provide proof of vaccination to secure their selection.

For 2022, Basketball BC is continuing with the changes made in the 2018 Spring/Summer Provincial Team Season.  This format will continue to support our provincial team programming in attracting the top male and female basketball players in the province at the U15 and U17 age categories, to compete and showcase their talents at the National Championships and Canada Summer Games.

The 2022 provincial team schedule will tentatively include:
  • 3 to 4 Non-Conflicting Training Weekends – occurring April, May, June, and/or July
  • Formal Training Camp (4 Day- late July/Aug)
  • Pre- National Championship Competition
  • National Championships (U15 and U17) or Canada Summer Games (U18 for the rescheduled Games)

NOTE: Basketball is represented by U17 teams at the Canada Summer Games.  Due to the rescheduling of the Games to 2022, the age group has moved up to U18 teams.

This scheduling format allows for club basketball participation and is designed to best suit the developmental needs of our players.  It also allows for greater participation for provincial high-performance college and university coaches to be involved in our Provincial Team programming.
